Topic: Art of Social and Professional Networking
Speaker: Carole Gill
Program Description: LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter … Do you have a presence on the Web? Join us June 19th to learn about the Art of Social and Professional Networking.
What is it? Why do it? Discuss the pros and cons! In addition to reconnecting with past colleagues, business partners, and classmates, you can tap into the knowledge, experience, and connections of your network.
For example, LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with over 30 million members globally and continues to grow rapidly. LinkedIn helps you exchange knowledge, ideas, and opportunities with your trusted contacts.
Facebook and Twitter, on the other hand, are social networking services for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
Whether you are a job seeker, a hiring manager, a working professional, or someone who just wants to stay in touch with people you have connected with in the past, it’s important to understand the differences between social networking and professional networking, and to be aware of your on-line brand.
