Topic: Metaphor, Improvisation, & Symbolic Modeling
Facilator: Tim Flood and Mary Bast
Personal presence is the most important variable in change work; without a conscious tending of one’s abilities to be present to a client’s needs, a consultant/coach might fall into a routine that strangles the spontaneity and flexibility required to most effectively inspire significant change.
Participants in this workshop will:
- Gain insight into their use/overuse of three roles: Initiator, Responder, and Side Coach.
- Sample a new inquiry model that encourages pure presence by aligning all three of these roles.
“The Land of AND” starts with theatre exercises to reveal each consultant/coach’s improvisational proclivities; each of us will answer “What is my relationship to the word AND?” This information will frame an introduction and demonstration of Symbolic Modeling, a fully developed client inquiry structure that intersects directly with theatre improv at the word “AND.”
